THE PRODUCTION LINE
Original oil paintings begin with a concept from photographic reference. Gino takes his own photographic reference at classic cars shows, rural fields, farmland, and barns, making the painting experience truly personal. After images are compiled, a composition emerges. The painting is then mapped out by hand on a 1.5inch profile, 15ounce, triple gesso stretched canvas with a detailed penciled sketch. Oil colour is applied using a poppyseed oil medium. As the piece progresses, colours, tones and textures come together. Satin varnish is applied to complete each painting. From photographic reference, composition, and colour selection to the many hours of detailed sketching and painting, Gino’s artistic aim is to share his creative process within each piece.
